Join us for Virginia Rod & Reef, an educational fishing event taking place on the Hampton River in partnership with Hampton University. This hands-on experience is designed for all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re new to fishing or an experienced angler, everyone is welcome. Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Adults: if you are registering a minor, please use your email address where requested in the registration form.

CBF will provide all fishing equipment, expert instruction, and lunch for attendees, making it easy to participate and focus on learning and fun.

Virginia Rod & Reef introduces the community to recreational fishing while highlighting the important role oyster reefs play in supporting healthy fish populations. Kids and teens can learn basic angling skills or improve their technique with guidance from experienced staff. Attendees can also enjoy Rod & Reef merchandise and fishing gear giveaways.

This event brings together education, outdoor recreation, and fishing in a welcoming setting. We hope you’ll join us on the Hampton River!
