Spring is nearly here, which means it is tree potting season at CBF's Clagett Farm! Every year we pot 10,000 saplings in our native tree and shrub nursery that will stay here for a few years before they are planted on other farms across the state of Maryland.

Potting that many trees takes a lot of hands. Did you know that working in a garden and getting your hands dirty in some rich soil reduces feelings of stress, stimulates the senses, and is a great way to get some exercise? All while enjoying fresh farm air.

The time and effort you spend working with our tree nursery has a direct impact on protecting local waterways, mitigating climate change, and helping Maryland farmers conserve their land.

Please join us for a few healthy hours on the farm to pot, weed, and mulch our newest additions!

For the health and safety of our volunteers, CBF requires that all volunteers complete CBF’s Health and Safety Form prior to engaging in any volunteer efforts. A link to the form will be provided in your confirmation email.

Visit the CBF Event Calendar for a list of more available dates.

We’re committed to making our events accessible to everyone. If you need any accommodations to participate, please let us know during registration or reach out to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . We will do our best to meet your needs.
