Join the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Richmond Parks & Recreation on the first Tuesday of every month from April through October 2026 at Fonticello Park’s Tiny Forest for Tiny Forest Tuesdays!
A tiny forest is a dense planting of native species designed to boost biodiversity and quickly establish a thriving forest ecosystem. Volunteers planted this site in March 2025 with about 250 native tree seedlings and shrubs, which still need help outcompeting fast‑growing wiregrass and crabgrass. Since herbicides aren’t used, we’ll be hand‑pulling weeds to ensure the young forest can take root and grow strong.
All are welcome—no experience needed! We’ll provide gloves, shovels, trowels, and guidance. Wear weather‑appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes, and bring your coffee and a water bottle. Better yet, invite a friend who loves the outdoors and start your Tuesday with meaningful time in nature.
