Spring 2026 Student Leadership Summit at Port Isobel Environmental Center Tangier, VA

Open to high school students within the Chesapeake Bay Watershed

Join CBF Student Leadership for a weekend of hands-on investigations and exploration of making a difference in a world of climate challenges. We'll explore all the island has to offer, engage in data collection, navigate the waters via boat, and take a peek into the history and culture of Tangier Island.

This 3-day, 2-night summit will take place at CBF's Port Isobel Island Environmental Education Center located on a remote island between Tangier Sound and the Chesapeake Bay. Together with CBF Educators we will discover, inspire, and strategize supporting the Chesapeake Bay for future generations.
Students will gain and sharpen critical thinking skills, network with peers, brainstorm solutions for challenges facing the Bay watershed, further develop leadership qualities, and so much more! This is a great opportunity to earn service hours, learn real-world skills, and have fun with fellow high school students from across the watershed.

Logistics Information:

- Participants choose from three regional meet-up locations: Annapolis, MD, Richmond, VA, or Virginia Beach, VA

- All transportation, lodging (dormitory style) and meals are provided during the program

- Letters of Excused Absence can be provided for any missed school on Friday 4/24

Service Learning Hours: Participants will complete service-learning projects during the experience. CBF Staff can certify hours earned, but participants must provide their own paperwork.
