DESCRIPTION: REGISTRATION REQUIRED\n\nOysters are the Chesapeake Bay's powerhouses. They naturally filter our water, provide essential habitat for fish and other species, and support a robust local seafood economy. They also can help protect areas most vulnerable to sea level rise and the intense storms we’re experiencing from climate change.\nJoin CBF scientists and partners for an inside look at the innovative tools and techniques used to design, deploy, and monitor oyster restoration projects in the Chesapeake Bay. Attendees will learn the latest about Maryland’s oyster sanctuaries, new shoreline resiliency enhancements that incorporate oysters, and strategic oyster restoration in Bay tributaries like the Severn River. A sneak peek into the development of CBF’s new Truman T. Semans Center for Oyster Restoration and Innovation in Galesville, MD will also be provided.\nParticipants can use what they learn at the program to support advocacy action on oysters going into the 2027 Maryland General Assembly.\n\nThis event is part of Advocacy in Action, a CBF Learning Series. Advocacy in Action invites the public to CBF's headquarters, the Philip Merrill Environmental Center, to learn and connect with the most pressing issues facing our watershed. CBF Learning Series are free and open to the public, but donations are welcome so we can continue to offer events that keep you and fellow community members informed and engaged on critical Bay issues. Stay tuned for more CBF Learning Series events in the future!\n\nWe’re committed to making our events accessible to everyone. If you need any accommodations to participate, please reach out to agirard@cbf.org. We will do our best to meet your needs.\n\nYour registration includes periodic email updates from CBF. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of any email you receive from us.\n\nFor details, click here: https://events.cbf.org/oystersmatter-111926
