Join the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Sierra Club Virginia Chapter, and the Virginia League of Conservation Voters for an engaging talk on menhaden science and policy.

Menhaden, also known as bunker, are small, filter‑feeding fish that play a crucial role in the Chesapeake Bay. Often called “the most important fish in the sea,” they provide key nutrients to predators, form the foundation of the Bay’s food web, and support coastal communities.

This discussion will explore why menhaden matter, the pressures they face, and how you can help protect this keystone species.

Please join us for a pre-event reception beginning at 5:30 p.m. with oysters and hors d'oeuvres. The program will then begin at 6:30 p.m.

Location and parking: This event will take place at the Garden Hall and Courtyard at Maymont, steps from the Italian Garden and Maymont Mansion. Entrance and parking available at the Hampton Street entrance.
