Registration Deadline: September 23, 2024
Educational sessions will take place on six consecutive Wednesdays: Sep. 25, Oct. 2, Oct. 9, Oct. 16, Oct. 23, Oct. 30. Participants are expected to attend at least four of the six sessions.
Note: VoiCeS classes are tailored to their host location. Because legislative and advocacy strategies are different for each state, you will benefit the most from registering for the course in your state or district.
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation cordially invites Maryland residents to participate in our statewide Fall 2024 VoiCeS (Volunteers for Chesapeake Stewards) class. (For more information about CBF's VoiCeS program, visit here.)
Join us for this online six-week educational program to learn about
- The science and strategies propelling the restoration of the Chesapeake Bay,
- our policy priorities for the 2025 Maryland Legislative Session,
- crafting a personal story that is authentic and reflects your environmental passions and goals,
- advocating at federal, state, and local levels,
- fostering community and collaboration on issues important to you.
You will have the opportunity to attend in-person field trips (optional to attend, but encouraged for all participants) while connecting with your neighbors. Sites will explore the concepts being learned throughout the program, such as urban oyster gardening and water excursion activities. In addition to the in-person field trip opportunities, we will be hosting an in-person program launch at Forward Brewing in Annapolis (418 Fourth Street) on Friday September 20 from 6-7:30 pm as well as an in-person graduation at CBF's Annapolis Headquarters (6 Herndon Avenue) to close out the program on Wednesday October 30 from 6-8:00 pm.
Educational sessions will take place virtually on Zoom, to allow for greatest flexibility when joining. Virtual connection details will be sent to participants ahead of program start date.
To offset costs of field trips and sessions, we set the price of this six-week program at $25 per participant. However, we do not wish for cost to hinder anyone's ability to participate. We offer full scholarships to any resident who needs it. If you'd like a scholarship, please send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to get registered for free.
We have plenty of giveaways and prizes for participants. We look forward to meeting you all!
GEOGRAPHIC RESTRICTIONS: All Maryland residents are invited to register.
AGE RESTRICTIONS: This course is tailored to adult learners, but is open to ages 4th grade and up.
