DESCRIPTION: REGISTRATION REQUIRED\nEducational sessions will take place on five consecutive Tuesdays (May 12, May 19, May 26, June 2, and June 9) with a graduation party on June 16 (hosted hybrid with an option to celebrate in-person at CBF's Annapolis headquarters). Participants are expected to attend at least four of the five educational sessions.\n\nWant to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities for Chesapeake Bay restoration and conservation? Join CBF's spring VoiCeS Program!\nVoiCeS (Volunteers as Chesapeake Stewards) engages local volunteers who want to play a more active role in their communities and Bay restoration. VoiCeS programs include a series of collaborative online sessions, as well as optional in-person field trips. Participants get hands-on educational experience that enhances their personal volunteer and advocacy journeys. Since the program was created in 2004, nearly 1,000 people across the Chesapeake Bay watershed have participated.\nSessions are professionally led by CBF staff, and participants will learn about:\n\nthe fundamentals of how the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem works and all the amazing species that call it home;\nthe intersection of the Bay with our built environment and larger climate forces;\nwhat CBF and partners are doing to further nature-based solutions around Maryland; and\nhow residents can engage in environmental action, ranging from individual habits to larger advocacy on permitting and legislative reform.\n\nGraduating participants are recognized as CBF Certified Bay Stewards and are invited to join CBF’s team of super advocates (Clean Water Captains).\nYou will have the opportunity to attend in-person field trips (optional to attend, but encouraged for all participants) while connecting with your neighbors. Sites will explore the concepts being learned throughout the program. \nEducational sessions will take place virtually on Zoom to allow for greatest flexibility when joining. Virtual connection details will be sent to participants ahead of the program start date.\nTo offset costs of field trips and sessions, we set the price of this six-week program at $25 per participant. However, we do not wish for cost to hinder anyone's ability to participate. We offer full scholarships to any resident who needs it. If you'd like a scholarship, please send an email to mbeller@cbf.org to get registered for free.\nGeographic Restrictions: All Maryland residents are invited to register. VoiCeS classes are tailored to their host location. Because programs, legislative strategies, and advocacy are different for each state, you will benefit the most from registering for the course in your state or district.\nAge Restrictions: This course is tailored to adult learners but is open to students grades 9th and up.\nWe’re committed to making our events accessible to everyone. If you need any accommodations to participate, please reach out to mbeller@cbf.org. We will do our best to meet your needs.\nYour registration includes periodic email updates from CBF. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of any email you receive from us.\n \n\nFor details, click here: https://events.cbf.org/md-voices-spring-2026
