Independent School Leaders Program
Open to all independent school leaders and administrators from PA, MD, VA, and DC.

School leaders across the watershed are invited to join CBF for a three-day immersive exploration of the Bay and the unique waterman community of Smith Island. Through hands-on experiences, school leaders will explore the positive effects that environmental education has on mental health and well-being, student engagement, and the development 21st century skills. Participants will engage in discussion about the unique opportunities that immersing in the local environment provides independent schools. Participants will collaborate to design successful school programs that utilize and benefit their local environment and promote environmental literacy.

Length & Location: Three consecutive days of field-based, whole-group, outdoor investigation at the Smith Island Environmental Education Center for a 3-day, 2-night residential experience. Ferry departs Sommers Cove Marina, Crisfield, MD 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 18 and returns at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20.
Cost: No cost due to support from the Dorhtery Foundation.

COVID Policy: All participants of multi-day experiences are required to be fully up to date on COVID vaccinations or have a negative PCR test within 72 hours of in person programing start. All vaccinated participants are required to take a rapid covid test 48 Hours prior to the start of in person programing. Attend only if negative.
