Join the Chesapeake Bay Foundation to learn the basics of improving soil health in urban environments.
Lara Johnson of the Virginia Department of Forestry will provide an overview on how to rehabilitate highly compacted soils. Lara will demonstrate how to test for compaction and how to amend the soil to bring back biological processes so it can support healthy tree growth.
The program will begin indoors before moving outside, where you will have an opportunity to watch the proper techniques to aerate and amend highly compacted soils and prepare the site for future plantings.
This workshop is free, but registration is required.
We have limited registration for this event to ensure that physical distance can be maintained. CBF recommends that all volunteers are fully vaccinated and requires volunteers to wear a CDC-approved mask while indoors. If you are not vaccinated, we recommend you wear a mask during outside activities as well.
This event is hosted in partnership with the Virginia Department of Forestry and the Richmond Parks and Recreation Department.
Your registration includes periodic email updates from CBF. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of any email you received from us.
