Are you wondering how our work on land connects to our work in the water? Are you curious about why the Chesapeake Bay Foundation owns a farm? Join us for a day to volunteer and learn at our very own Clagett Farm. Learn how the team is using regenerative practices on land to rebuild soil and reduce the impact on the local waterways, all while growing nutrient-dense food for the community. Explore the 283-acre working farm located in Upper Marlboro, Maryland to learn about our growing practices, animal operation, community distribution strategy, and native tree nursery. Participants will join in hands-on field work with the farm team, which could include harvesting vegetables, weeding fields, and visiting our animal operations.
The Farm to Bay Series is meant to highlight the work of two active programs within CBF. At Clagett Farm, our goal is to use farming methods that are truly sustainable both economically and environmentally. Our Oyster Restoration Center offers residents the tools and information needed to help restore native oysters, Crassostrea virginia, to the Chesapeake Bay. During the session you will learn about the environmental challenges that drive our work and how we are working to save the Bay by land and water.
Your registration includes periodic email updates from CBF. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of any email you received from us.
