Join us at CBF's Brock Environmental Center for the Brock Climate Lecture Series, featuring KC Filippino, Senior Water Resources Planner for the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission; Angela Navarro, policy consultant to the Virginia League of Conservation Voters; and Jay Ford, Virginia Policy Manager at CBF.

Virginia energy demands are skyrocketing, with a notable growth in renewable energy. Thirteen percent of the state’s electricity comes from solar, a renewable energy sector that’s expanding quickly. Virginia is now ninth in the U.S. in solar energy production. While wind energy development is currently less advanced, it is anticipated to grow with the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project, expected to provide power to 660,000 homes by 2026. Virginia is actively working to achieve the goals set by the Clean Economy Act, which aims for 100% renewable electricity by 2045 and 2050, focusing on energy efficiency and environmental justice. However, this rapid growth presents challenges, including land use, the protection of natural resources, and the management of where and how this growth occurs. To learn more about these important and timely topics, attend to hear the perspective of sector experts.

This lecture series aims to bring together a diverse group of community members to share their expertise and experiences on the pressing issues surrounding climate change and its impact on the Chesapeake Bay. Don't miss this opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions and learn more about how climate change affects us all.

This series is sponsored by Planetary Technologies, CMA CGM, and Cox Communications.

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation's Brock Environmental Center is located on a nature preserve and does not allow parking at the building. A map will be emailed to registrants explaining acceptable parking locations. Expect a 5-10 minute walk to the building.
