Come help CBF restore six acres of riparian forest buffer along Broad Run, a tributary to Catoctin Creek. Planting trees along streams is one of the most cost-effective practices to clean water and sequester carbon to mitigate for climate change.
We will be planting 1,200 trees to filter water from adjacent farm fields. Once the stream forest buffer is installed, the farm will go through the Rural Legacy agriculture preservation program to protect for future generations.
Attendees will learn about regenerative agriculture and receive a Maryland Farm calendar, which has information on the importance of supporting local farms for water quality, climate change, and the local economy.
Partners include Maryland Forest Service, Frederick County Land Preservation, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and Maryland Department of Agriculture.
