Registration Deadline: September 29th, 2022

Join the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore in the Great Baltimore Oyster Partnership. During this volunteer workshop, you will learn about oyster ecology, the importance of oysters to the Chesapeake Bay, and will fill cages with newly set spat on shell (baby oysters). These oysters will grow in the cages, protected during the most vulnerable part of their lives, and in doing so will help filter the water of the Inner Harbor.

These baby oysters will be cared for through public events over the fall, winter, and early spring months. Once grown to adult size, the oysters will be planted on a sanctuary reef at Fort Carroll, right in Baltimore. The now hardy adult oysters will remain on the sanctuary where they can provide water quality and habitat benefits for the Patapsco River and ultimately the Chesapeake Bay.
