Join CBF for a tree planting in Clear Spring, Maryland where we will plant at least five hundred trees to improve forest cover, increase biodiversity, and improve soil health on agricultural land in the Conococheague Creek watershed, a tributary to the Potomac River. The farmer is fencing livestock away from a headwater tributary and planting eight acres of trees to provide a forest buffer for water quality and water quantity which will reduce flooding during storm events and help maintain baseflow during dry periods.
Attendees will learn about CBF's farm stewardship program, regenerative agriculture, and the role trees play in mitigating climate change and improving water quality while getting a chance to participate in hands-on restoration work.
Partners include the Antietam Conococheague Watershed Alliance, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, Maryland Forest Service, and Maryland Department of Agriculture.
