Join the Chesapeake Bay Foundation to learn more about how streamside forests can protect local bird species such as the threatened golden-winged warbler.

Enjoy presentations from avian ecologist and associate professor, Lesley P. Bulluck, PhD, with Virginia Commonwealth University’s Center for Environmental Studies; and farmer, conservationist, educator, and award-winning writer, Bobby Whitescarver. Participants will also hear from Kristin Fuoco with USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service and Sarah Coffey with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation who can connect them with programs to help conserve and restore bird habitat in Virginia’s Valley and Ridge region. Lunch will be provided and followed by an optional nearby site visit, where participants will have the opportunity to see a real-life example of a landscape working to protect local birds and other wildlife in Highland County.

Participants who are not fully vaccinated are strongly recommended to wear a mask.
