Pennsylvania Forests and Rivers Exploration - Summer 2026
Open to any teacher in DC, MD, PA, VA.
Join fellow educators for a three-day professional development field experience in the Gettysburg, PA region that brings environmental literacy to life through place-based, phenomenon-driven learning aligned with PA STEELS. Participants will explore local waterways, historic landscapes, and the York County Resource Recovery Center through immersive field investigations that deepen both personal understanding and classroom instructional practice. Educators will engage in hands-on learning, model MWEE-aligned instructional strategies, and translate field experiences into ready-to-use schoolyard investigations for grades 4–8. This experience is ideal for educators seeking practical, locally grounded approaches that strengthen student sensemaking and empower learners to investigate real environmental challenges in their own communities.
