Discover how to use the environment to engage students in hands-on learning that inspires climate resilience. Spend five days with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in Newport News investigating ecosystems, studying climate solutions, and developing climate literate curriculum. Connect with habitats in your own backyard from the seat of a canoe, aboard a 40’ research vessel, and along the shorelines of our local waterways. Identify resources and learn from a network of experts that can help you weave inquiry-based investigations into curricula that encourages classroom engagement and elevates student voice. This action-packed course will strengthen your connection to the natural world and equip you with skills to tackle environmental and climate concerns with your students. Snacks and learning resources will be provided during the course. Participants that complete all coursework will be eligible for documentation of contact hours and a $1400 stipend due to the partnership between the NOAA Chesapeake Bay Watershed Education & Training (B-WET) Program and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
